The 50 km long massif of Monte Rosa lies in the Swiss-Italian border area, in the Valais Alps. Its highest point is the 4,634 m high Dufourspitze, the highest mountain in Switzerland. - The trip with the famous Gornergratbahn up to the 3,135 m high Gornergrat is spectacular: the view extends from the ice world of Monte Rosa and the Liskamm (4,527 m) to the Matterhorn. In total there are 29 four-thousanders to see from here! - The Valais ski and health resorts of Zermatt, Saas Fee and Saas Almagell can be reached via the Rhone Valley, while the Gressoney-la-Trinité and Ayas ski resorts are located in side valleys of Valle d'Aosta. Alagna Valsesia and Macugnaga are old Walser settlements (12th to 14th century) and today famous Piedmontese ski resorts. - The Tour Monte Rosa leads from Zermatt in 8 days through the Europe hut, Grächen, Saas Fee, Macugnaga, Alagna, Gressoney, St. Jacques and Theodulpass once around the Monte Rosa massif around. - The Great Walser Trail leads along old mule tracks and hiking trails in the footsteps of the Walser past their characteristic wooden houses, which were built on stone pedestals. About the Walser inform the Museo Casa Walser in the old Walser settlement Macugnaga and the Walser Museum in Algna-Piemonte.
