Quick Overview

Award-winning for its ultralight prowess, updated with OR's most durable lightweight Helium fabric with Diamond Fuse technology. This clamshell opening bivy is ideal for fast and light missions.

Take cover from the elements with the Helium Bivy by Outdoor Research. With many awards under its belt, the Helium Bivy promises and delivers ultimate comfort and functionality. Building upon the success of its previous generation, this minimalist, single-person shelter is updated with the most durable and lightweight Helium fabric with Diamond Fuse Technology. This makes the bivy 14% lighter than its predecessor. A clamshell opening makes it easy to get in, get out, and resists wear and tear for future seasons of adventuring to come.

The Outdoor Research Helium Bivy is a single-person hooped bivy. Very fast to set up – you simply feed the pole in – an equally fast to dismantle. The pole gives the bivy height to give you breathing room. Incredibly easy to pack, store and set up—it’s an ideal choice for anyone looking to trade the fuss for speed, ability and performance.

The tapered shape of the Helium Bivy works best with tapered shape sleeping pads with narrower dimensions at the foot, ideally 19” or narrower.

Q&A:

Is the Helium Bivy Waterproof?

The Helium Bivy utilises Pertex® Diamond Fuse technology to offer waterproof protection without compromising breathability.

How Many Degrees Does a Bivy Sack Add?

It can increase the warming capacity of your shelter by about 5 degrees, meaning you can pack a lighter sleeping bag and save even more weight and space.

Is a Bivy Warmer Than a Tent?

High-performance bivies trap a few degrees of effective warmth inside and can hold it better than tents, keeping you well-protected from the elements without the excess weight.

What Fabric Technology Does This Bivy Use?

This bivy incorporates Diamond Fuse technology—a type of innovative, engineered yarn with unique, diamond-shaped filaments that lock together, creating a durable, abrasion-resistant fabric.

How to Stop Condensation in a Bivy?

Condensation is a common drawback of bivy bags, but the Helium Bivy combats this issue with mash closure for added ventilation.
