We are excited to announce that 2022 brings in a new generation of Exped hiking mats. This updated line of hiking mats simplifies their broad range into three distinct groups; the Ultra, the Dura, and the Versa. Within each of these families, models are characterized by their R-values (the thermal resistance the mat provides), shape and size.

Ultra:

Small pack size and lightweight
20 denier recycled ripstop polyester
3 – 5 R-value uses Synmat (synthetic) fill
7 R-value uses Down fill
Comfort cradle: increased head-to-toe side air chambers provides stability while sleeping
Schnozzel pumpbag: moisture-free, rapid mat inflation

Dura:

Extra durability and comfort
Weaves 75 denier/170 denier recycled ripstop polyester
5 R-value uses Synmat (synthetic) fill
5 – 8 R-value uses Down fill

Once you have chosen a style of mat, based on your needs and intended use, there are two remaining questions you need to ask yourself before making a final choice on a mat:

1. What warmth level do I need?

R-value determines the warmth level the mat. The higher the R-value, the warmer the mat, meaning it will protect you when in colder conditions.

2. What size and shape do I need?

Single and duo sizes in selected ranges.

Small (S), medium (M) and large (L), increasing in length. M is the standard length. Wider (W) and Mummy options available in selected ranges.
