DMM
DMM are a world leading manufacturer of climbing carabiners and hardware. The company was originally founded in 1981 as Moorhouse Engineering in Bethesda, Wales. Later in 1986, the company moved to a new facility in Llanberis and became known as DMM. From the very start of the company, DMM has focused on developing products for recreational climbing and mountaineering. DMM, of Wales, specialises in the manufacture of climbing hardware, whether it be carabiners, protection, belay devices or other things. The original premise of the company was to manufacture the best quality equipment at the best prices. Although the concept is simple, it has required DMM to continue to innovate in over the years in order to create products that are unique and designed to lead world markets.
When the company began, it had just four employees. After 30 years of manufacturing, DMM is one of the top employers in the area with over 150 men and women. In addition, DMM caters to industrial markets, which has allowed the company to sustain itself and has benefited the products that it produces for climbers.
DMM has also just recently added a large extension to the factory site for a purpose built Assembly area and also a CNC machining area. These were considerable investments for the company but will allow DMM's workforce to product products in a more efficient and competitive manner as the only manufacturer of climbing hardware in the UK.
