The D-shape
carabiners are great for many types of climbing and are designed to hold loads toward the side that is non-gated. The asymmetrical D-shape carabiners have different gate openings as compared to the D-shaped carabiners. They are somewhat smaller at one end in order to lessen the amount of weight.
The gate options for clip gate carabiners are straight, bent gate, and wire gate. Carabiners that feature solid gates are the most common and are typically used for bolts, quickdraws and protection. Bent gate carabiners feature a concave gate and are designed for use only on the end of a quickdraw or runner. They are easier to clip with your rope. Wire gate carabiners contain stainless steel wire as the gate.
Carabiners also come in locking and non locking options. A locking carabiner provides additional protection against accidental gate-openings and is often used for belaying. The most common type is the screwgate. If you need a climbing carabiner, you'll find it at Bogong. We have the largest range and we stock carabiners from leading international brands including DMM, Edelrid, Grivel and more.
