If you are going out on the water or you anticipate heavy precipitation during your trip, you need a dry bag. Dry bags offer guaranteed protection for sleeping bags, food and clothing. Dry bags are typically made from high grade nylon or PVC-coated polyester fabric. Nylon is an excellent water resistant fabric to use for dry bags. In addition, nylon dries quickly and is comfortable against the skin. PVC-coated polyester fabric is used to make heavy-duty dry bags which can be immersed in water.
Some dry bags are also available as compression bags to enable compression thanks to the breathable fabric. A compression bag is an ideal choice if you need the benefits of a dry bag but there are space restrictions that you need to meet. If space is limited, you can also opt for dry bags in smaller sizes, including XS, S, and M. If you prefer to fit all of your gear in a single dry bag, opt for the L, XL, or XXL sizes. Some dry bags also feature straps making them easier to carry.
Dry bags can be used for canyoning, climbing, caving and more. When filled they offer a convenient luggage option and are much lighter than a conventional backpack. When the contents have been removed, the pack can easy be rolled flat into a small package and stored away. Unlike a backpack, a dry pack does not retain its shape while empty.
