Huts In the Victorian Alps

By Klaus Hueneke

The life story of 120 of the best known and most accessible huts in the Victorian Alps are told in this fabulous new book. Huts have been traditionally used and mostly built by cattlemen, bushwalkers, skiers, scouts, miners, loggers, surveyors, hydro workers, film-makers, 4X4 drivers, and dingo trappers. Many were built from local materials using tools now mainly seen in museums. Some are simple slab or log huts with an iron roof and rustic fireplace, whilst others are sophisticated chalets. Most are free and open to all.

The book is illustrated with 170 black & white photos, some 20 drawings and seven maps and can be used as a guidebook, work of history, encyclopedia, or as a photographic essay. Above all it is a very good read.
