Where does Icebreaker come from?

On the 23rd and 24th of June Bogong Equipment staff member Heidi Wiebke visited one of Icebreaker's fibre factories, Mt Nicholas Station, New Zealand. The station is situated across the panoramic Lake Wakatipu from Queenstown. The New Zealand backcountry means cold days and nights. Luckily Heidi had layers of Icebreaker to keep her warm.

The group on the trip was made up of about 20 people, including retail staff from various stores around Australia and NZ, Icebreaker staff and the founder of Icebreaker Jeremy Moon. Together they spent two days on the station soaking up the beautiful weather, the breathtaking scenery and all the knowledge the Icebreaker team had to offer.

Heidi says the highlights of the trip were the tour of the station and an inspiring talk by Jeremy Moon. Jeremy spoke about how Icebreaker started and the value of working directly with merino growers. Heidi found the trip to be an extremely valuable experience and has taken away many fond memories and a wealth of knowledge about Icebreaker and how the merino wool gets from the sheep to the finished garments that we have in our store.

Bogong stocks an extensive range of Icebreaker clothing. See us in store for details.
