Recap: Backcountry Safety Info Session
It was a full house!
Luka and Simon's Backcountry Safety Info Session had unprecedented popularity! We had about 130 people attend, and 50 more people we had to turn away for safety reasons – we simply couldn't fit more people upstairs safely. This is a far cry from days of old when we used to have six to 12 people turn up for similar sessions (on a good day)! What this tells us is that there is a desire for knowledge in this area. We hope to hold more of these sessions in the future.
Luka and Simon's intimate knowledge of the Victorian Alps was well received, and their self-produced backcountry maps proved very popular. If you missed out on getting one, you can still buy one at the Mountain Sports Collective website.
The maps are water, tear and scrunch proof, as demonstrated by Luka in this video.
Thank you all for attending and being a great crowd.
Recap: Dan's Highline Info Session
Slackliners unite!
Dan's Highline Info Session was another new addition to our Bogong Info Session calendar. We had a good group. Dan, in typical Dan fashion, insisted on no chairs. As such, it was a good, hands-on vibe. We enjoyed hosting you guys, and hope you came away with new knowledge and skills that you can put to use.
Thanks, Dan!

Bogong Equipment was founded in 1989. Everyone who works at Bogong Equipment is a climber, hiker, mountaineer or runner. We have first-hand experience in cragging, multiday bushwalking, alpine climbing and trail running. We use the gear we sell. That means, we can tell you how a product truly performs in the field. That's how we only select the best gear to stock our shelves.
Our stock room in our brick-and-mortar store on Little Bourke Street, in Melbourne, is filled with purpose-designed, technical equipment. With our vast selection of gear, it can be tricky to know where to begin. Especially if you don't know exactly what you're looking for. That's why we employ knowledgeable, experienced staff. We can help you get equipped for your remote trekking expedition, your ice-cap crossing, climbing your first peak or simply your next wander in the hills.
