The news you have been waiting for...
We are RE-OPENING on Saturday!
To keep everyone safe, we are implementing a COVIDSafe Plan, with a maximum number of people in the store, physical distancing guides, staff and customers wearing face masks, hand sanitiser, a regular wipedown procedure and more.
It has been a long time since we've welcomed customers into the store. We hope you have all been doing well and getting through lockdown in your own ways.
As usual, we have a constant stream of new items arriving at the store. In this newsletter, we have highlighted our favourites. As well, Dan has written up Part Two of his slacklining how-to blog articles.
In its usual spot at the end of our newsletter, we have summarised our trading hours for the next few days. With indoor retail opening soon, as well as Melbourne Cup Day on Tuesday, we thought it would be a good idea to let you know when we'll be open.

La Sportiva Ultra Raptor II Boots and Shoes
Now in LEATHER!
We have three styles of the NEW La Sportiva Ultra Raptor II Leather boots and shoes. Two of the styles are shoes (a men's low-cut shoe and a women's low-cut shoe), and the third style is a boot in a men's fit. (We have a fourth style, a boot in a women's fit, but that didn't make this shipment, so it will be arriving later.)
These are essentially high-performance, waterproof leather hiking shoes and boots that are designed for rugged terrain, as well as moving fast and light.
If you're thinking that 'Ultra Raptor' sounds familiar, it's because the La Sportiva Ultra Raptor was originally a classic trail running shoe. The original model is still made by La Sportiva (we sell it in the store!), but it performs so well that La Sportiva has expanded the range to include a lightweight boot, and now also a LEATHER boot and shoe.
The new leather boot features an innovative ankle cuff that is just the right blend of support, protection and flex, allowing for moving fast.
How it speaks to the original La Sportiva Ultra Raptor is by having the same sole package. That is, a durable yet sticky rubber sole compound for traction; the same lug system and midsole. The upper is also made to mimic the feel of the original Ultra Raptor trail running shoe.
Both the leather boot and leather shoes have stability features, including an external TPU heel counter and a TPU shank that helps mitigate torsional movement that can lead to things like ankle rolling.
Overall, these are excellent choices of footwear for moving fast on changing terrain – with the classic look of leather and the waterproof performance of Gore-Tex®.

You Asked!
And we got them
Back by popular demand! We first brought these Outdoor Research facemasks in last year. We sold out and many of you have been asking for them since. Well, we've finally got them back, and this time in more colours. Seems like mask use isn't disappearing any time soon, so if you like this mask, get it before we run out again!

Just Add Water and Shake
NEW! Radix Smoothies
Radix Nutrition produces freeze-dried meals, and now smoothies, using only the highest quality ingredients, carefully sourced. They have a science-based approach and are experts in Applied Nutrition. So you can count getting the most from their food, whether you're using it on a bushwalk or after a trail run.
We have had their freeze-dried meals in for a little while, but their smoothies just landed. These are packets of powder that you pour into a vessel (a Nalgene works well), add 300ml of water and shake. If you find chopping and sourcing fruit a bit of a chore, these Radix smoothies are a great solution. They also have protein to help optimise your post-exertion recovery.
We have four flavours, including a plant-based option (plant-based protein used instead of whey).

Have you tried slacklining?
We've finally gotten around to publishing Part 2 of Dan's Slacklining Manifesto.
In it, Dan gives his tips for walking, things you can do to challenge yourself, positions like 'exposure' and also troubleshooting. Dan's made a bunch of videos that we've peppered through out the article, to help you visualise everything.
