Sustainability Spotlight
As lovers of the outdoors, we all know the importance of caring for our environment. By limiting our impact on nature, we can pass on our amazing outdoor adventures to family and friends, new and old.
We want to represent brands that align with our values. More and more of the brands and products we stock are embracing the importance of sustainability by investing in new manufacturing and selling practices to minimise their effect on the environment.
In this edition, and in upcoming E-News, Bogong will highlight some of the sustainable products that we are selling.
Icebreaker - Move to Natural
“We are aiming for all our materials* to be plastic-free by 2023. The constant pursuit of better is what drives our progress”. – Icebreaker *(excluding trims)
It was over 27 years ago that Icebreaker founder Jeremy Moon met a merino sheep farmer. After sharing a lunch, an idea was born; what if outdoor clothes, like the places they are worn, were natural?
Icebreaker has now become a champion for the benefits of merino wool, from how it feels and looks, to how it performs and cleans. In 2019, the Move to Natural campaign launched, making official Icebreaker’s commitment to becoming a fully natural company by 2023. With their founding principles, they have innovated new technologies in their effort to be “plastic-free by ‘23,” with plant-based and bio-based fibres being introduced into garments.
Progress is the defining feature of their 27 year pledge. By accepting that they don’t have all the answers yet, Icebreaker is setting the standard for other brands to follow. Sustainable production is our nature’s future and we all should be striving towards it.
Some of Bogong Equipment’s most popular base layers are from the Icebreaker range. They have the benefits of merino, including odour resistance and temperature regulation, while being environmentally friendly.
Here are some key styles which are now made from 100% natural fibres:
