The going will be tough, loose sand and rock will impede the way and the country, in drought, will make finding water a desperate occupation. Food rations will be limited. Foraging for bush tucker will become the only difference between survival and death. A 95kg man will lose a third of his body weight in 70 days and his strength and resolve will be challenged in ways he could never have imagined...READ ON

As usual there are many things happening amongst our well-travelled staff.

Paz is just back from six months of travelling and climbing through The Andes in South America. His highlights included walking around the Huayhuash Range in Peru. Check out the photos here.

Mark is recently returned from yet another winter in Canada where he has been indulging his skiing passion.

Merv has recently departed for a two month trip to the European Alps where he will be doing lots of skiing and honing of his AT skiing skills culminating in an attempt on the fabled Haute Route from Chamonix to Zermatt.

Ben is departing soon for an extended walk along the Pacific Crest Trail, a long distance walking trail which traverses the Sierra Nevada and Cascade Mountains across the USA from Mexico to Canada.

La Sportiva Mountain Running Series

Bogong is thrilled to partner with Running Wild and La Sportiva to create the La Sportiva Mountain Running Series. What attracted us to the Running Wild events is they are hard, technical, challenging runs which require a level of commitment, self reliance, training and experience but they are also a shared experience with like minded people.

Most rock climbers would know that La Sportiva have a leading reputation in climbing footwear. Less well known is that over the last few years La Sportiva have launched an exciting range of Mountain Running shoes inspired by the sky running races in the European Alps and sponsor the European La Sportiva Mountain Running Cup. La Sportiva have also established mountain running teams and events in Europe and the US with great success. Bogong is delighted to announce that we will have the all new La Sportiva Mountain Running shoes in store mid April. See a sneak preview here: La Sportiva Ultra Raptor, La Sportiva Wildcat 2.0 Goretex, La Sportiva Helios

The La Sportiva Mountain Running Series comprises 5 events:
Mt Buller Skyrun, 22/36/45km, Sun Feb 2013
Alpine Challenge, 60/100/160km, Sat 16-18 Mar 2013
Wilsons Prom 100, 48/60/80/100km, Sat 27 April 2013
Lake Mountain skyrun, 14/21/31km, Sat 20 Oct 2013
Razorback Run, 22/38/58/68km, Sat 23 Nov 2013

As you can see the Alpine Challenge was held last weekend in trying conditions. Find out all about it here:
