HELP SAVE ARAPILES & WIN!

Parks Victoria have announced a Cultural Landscape Management Plan to go into effect in 2025 in the Mount Arapiles-Tooan State Park which proposes closing the majority of the park to recreational use. This plan was released without any consultation with rock climbing bodies, or with the town of Natimuk which relies heavily on the revenue generated from the rock climbing community.

In response, Bogong Equipment has partnered with climbing bodies from across Australia to call for a plan which protects cultural and ecological assets, while also protecting the profound place that Mt Arapiles has within the rock climbing community.

As a result, Parks Victoria has opened public submissions from those who wish to contribute their voices to the proposals, and collaborate in the task of protecting the landscape for cultural and ecological purposes as well as recreation. These submissions close on February 14.

We believe that the best pathway to a Management Plan that brings communities together and finds solutions that benefit all is to hear from all voices, and so encourage all of those affected by the plan to submit to Parks Victoria with their stories and their perspectives.
